Our Story

Daniel’s Version

It’s a story as old as time. Boy sees girl (I thought she was a supermodel), boy is absolutely terrified of the most gorgeous girl he has ever seen and knows that he has absolutely no chance. I remember I was at the HQ pool (for context, HQ is the apartment building we still live in) during covid, leaned over to Jake and in our own lingo I let him know that I would marry said girl on the spot. Fast forward to New Year’s, Jake and I had become friends with Jason (HQ resident/matchmaker). Unbeknownst to me, that friendship would lead to me becoming "friends" with Whitney.

At that point, I was spending every weekend with Jason, Jake, and the rest of our HQ covid bubble at Whitney and Demi’s apartment. I made the cut to join in on Whitney’s 29th birthday dinner and I thought ok, maybe there is something here - despite a couple of conversations I overheard which I thought confirmed my initial suspicions at the pool.

Well, long story short, you're here reading this so it must have worked out. It’s still crazy to me that I’m here writing this. As cliche as it is (I hate cliches), I don’t know what I did to deserve this, and can say I’m the luckiest guy in the world to find the most perfect girl (and perfect pup).

Our Story

Whitney’s Version

First of all, I’d like to give a shout out to my lovely mother who told me I’d meet my future husband at HQ. Of course I thought she was crazy and rolled my eyes at her absurd comment. But guess who’s eating their words now?! I guess mothers really do know best…

Anyway, the year was 2021 and the pandemic was at its peak. HQ, however, was in peak party mode. I had seen Dan in passing many times (at the pool, at parties, strutting around with his bulging biceps about to bust out his sleeves…) but suddenly, he started coming around more often. In fact, one day he galavanted on up from his apartment with Matt and apparently decided to never leave…and I’m glad he didn’t. 😊 (No seriously, he never left.)

He quickly realized the way to my heart was through my stomach and over the next few months he spoiled me silly with lots of great food (s/o brisket baddie), his world famous cookies, and lots of wine and tequila. It didn’t take much for me to realize that my mom was right and I found my guy. His good looks, sense of humor, and delicious foods and drinks aside, what really won me over was his heart (cheesy, I know!) He is the most caring and thoughtful person I’ve ever met. And not just to me but to everyone that crosses his path. He’s my best friend, my home, and the best dog dad to Georgie and I am soooo freakin’ grateful + excited to spend the rest of my life buggin’ him!!!
